This outstanding cultural exchange program has existed on the Monterey Peninsula for nearly 40 years.  It is a fun, life-changing learning experience for both your family and the amazing 15/16 year old high school students who come to visit from Kobe, Japan.  By the end of their stay, you won’t want them to leave as they have become part of your family.  Lifelong connections will be made!

The exchange students attend class on most weekdays from 9am to 5pm at Santa Catalina School in Monterey.  They have a few weekday afternoons free to spend time with their host families as well as all evenings & weekends.  Host families are responsible for providing accommodations, meals, transportation, practicing English conversation with their student(s), and including them in your family fun.

Whatever your family does…a hike, a movie or a play, surfing, shopping at the mall, a sports event, a picnic on the beach, dinner out, religious services, a day trip to an amusement park…your exchange students should be included.  Make it a real American family experience!  Learn more on our Details page.

You will receive a stipend to help with food, fun, and transportation costs!  We highly recommend hosting two students, if possible, as they can provide each other support in their new environment.
